Ok ok ok!! I love to cook, and I love to eat. But thankfully I also like to work out–and when these loves become a little out of balance, I can generally re-balance things. So it’s time to re-balance, and to help me do that I am turning to…my spice rack.
I recall a quote from the show The Biggest Loser, “This spice rack is going to save your life.”
Ok so I am not in a life or death situation, but I do know that spices are a great way to enhance the flavors of a meal without using butter or oil.
Last night I used Sukhis Vegetable Spice Mix which has an incredible aroma of flavor. It also has zero fat and very little calories. Yes spices can save your life, and keep your skinny jeans at the front of your closet.
I look forward to buying a new pair soon.
For this meal you will need:
Veggies (I used shiitake mushrooms/onions).
Polenta (I had jalapeno polenta).
Lean turkey meat.
Olive oil spray.
As far as the directions, all you need to do is chop the veggies and make small balls of lean meat to saute in the pan. Sprinkle the packet of mixed spices over the veggies and meat.
Slice the polenta thin and brown on both sides.
Serve with Mango Chutney on lettuce greens!
Spices and herbs will do incredible things for the flavors in your food. Eating healthy is a choice. And every meal is a new opportunity to make yourself healthier, and move toward your goals.
If you don’t consider yourself “a chef,” it doesn’t matter. Buy a spice rack, and see what spices mix well together. Experiment.
And of course, have fun with it.
